"A Nation of Drunkards" - Video Link - In a paragraph, explain the problems of alcohol being an integral part of American life and the American psyche then. How is today's perception of drinking similar or different from that of the 1920's/Prohibition Era.
"Beer Wars" - Video Link - In a short response explain whether it was his supplying illegal booze or something else that made the government so insistent on sending Al Capone to Jail.
"Good Bootlegger" - Video Link - List 5-7 ways that Olmstead was a good businessman. List 3-4 ways that he was a good criminal. Finally, list whether you would see Olmstead as a greedy criminal or a person who justifiably was opposing an unjust law. Explain.
"El Chapo" - article link - How is the current U.S. "War on Drugs" like/unlike Prohibition? Can the two even be compared? What do you think would need to happen in order to make the "War on illegal Drugs" a success (3-4 explanations).

5.Chapter 25.2 - Read, and for the chart on page 722 listing the New Deal programs, choose 7 programs and explain how those programs would have been able to help your family if you were living through the Great Depression. Remember, this is not just you, but anyone in your close family. You should list the program, then next to it, write your explanation of how that program would have benefitted your family. Remember, you could have been living in a town that, like Toledo, had an 80% unemployment rate. [Due Tuesday 3/18/14]
6. Chapter 25 research project - Due Tuesday 3/18/14 - Using at least four Internet sources, create a longer paragraph summarizing the causes of the recent "Great Recession". Cite where necessary or appropriate. Below the paragraph, create a Venn diagram or 3 column chart comparing the causes of the "Great Recession" to the Great Depression. Use parenthetical citations when appropriate. Next Create a Venn Diagram that compares what the government did to help combat the fiscal crisis in both instances. (Hoover/FDR in 1930's & Bush/Obama administration in the late 2000's) Use parenthetical citations when appropriate. Finally, using the proper MLA format, create a works cited list for your sources (psst..... here is a link that can help you with proper format).

2. Once the Facist regime comes into power and the Nazi/German troops comes to Sighet, how does life change for the Jewish community?
3. Why does nobody choose to believe that Moishe the Beadle’s cautionary pleas? Use two pieces of textual evidence to support your response for t

This response should be in the form of a paragraph with two examples from the text as support.
